1) Victoria Memorial

Victoria Memorial is one of the best and ancient monument from the British rule. It is located in Kolkata, the city of joy which is in West Bengal, India. It is in good condition as in British period. It is brilliant example of good architecture of heritage. My suggestion, if you are like to explore historic place then you have to visit Victoria Memorial once.

The Victoria Memorial, one of the top historical place in a world. When Queen Victoria , who was the Empress of British India, died in January 1901, Lord Curzon (Viceroy of India) suggested a building a grand memorial in honour of Queen Victoria. He proposed the memorial with the museum where visitors come and feels the past period of monument designing, marbles and architecturing and the royality of Queen Victoria.

Victoria Memorial is surrounded by one pond and gardens. It is best place for nature lover and historic place lover. It’s also gives the idea of british rulling system and its war weapons which was already kept in hall of Victoria Memorial.

Nearest metro station is Maidaan. If you have to decide to go Victoria Memorial then go to Maidaan Station and then move straight approximately 5 minutes, you arrived the gate of Victoria Memorial. It is just look like Taj Mahal, you feel like that you again visit Taj Mahal but don’t confuse it’s structure is similar to Taj Mahal. 


2) Howrah bridge

The Howrah Bridge is one of the oldest hanging bridges in the world with no pillars supporting its suspension over the Hooghly River. It is the sixth longest bridge of its type in the world.


                        


The bridge was designed by one Mr. Walton of M/s Rendel, Palmer & Triton. The order for construction and erection was placed on M/s. Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company in 1939.

On 14 June 1965 it was renamed Rabindra Setu after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, who was the first Indian and Asian Nobel laureate. It is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge. The bridge is one of four on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal.


3) Dakshineswar Kali Temple


The Hindu temple is dedicated to Ma Bhavatarini a form of Goddess Kali. It was built by Rani Rashmoni in the year 1855. It is located on the eastern banks of Hooghly River.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu Navaratna temple located at Dakshineswar. Situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, the presiding deity of the temple is bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali, who is form of Adi Shakti. The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a philanthropist and a devotee of Kali.


4) Marble palace

Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. It is located at 46, Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata 700007. It is one of the best-preserved and most elegant houses of nineteenth-century Calcutta. The mansion is famous for its marble walls, floors, and sculptures, from which it derives its name.

                       


Marble Palace remains a private residence, photography is prohibited. Entry is free, but a permit must be obtained 24 hours in advance from the West Bengal Tourism Information Bureau at BBD Bag, Kolkata.

5) Indian Museum

7) Kali Ghat

Kali Ghat is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas of India, where the various parts of Sati’s body are said to have fallen, in the course of Shiva’s Rudra Tandava. Kali Ghat represents the site where the toes of the right foot of Dakshayani or Sati fell.


                                             


Kali Ghat temple has references in 15th century texts. The original temple was a small hut. The present temple was built by the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family of Barisha in 1809.



8) Belur Math


Beluá¹› Maá¹­h is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, founded by Swami Vivekananda, the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. The Belur Math is considered as one of the prime tourist spots near Kolkata and place of pilgrimage by devotees.


                                               

  

Belur math is a place of pilgrimage for people of different religious faiths. This place of religious importance is visited by people from all over India and abroad. The main gate of bellur math leads to the Ramkrishna Sarada Mandir. Swami breathed his last breath on 4th July, 1902 at this place.

Nicco Park is an amusement park located in Jheel Meel, Sector – IV of Salt Lake City, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The park was created to attract tourists to the state by providing family-friendly recreation as well as educative entertainment
